You might not know …

Many of your neighbours live on low incomes and are glad to receive donated food so they could pay for some other essential.

THANK YOU to everyone who brought food or toiletries in around Anti-Poverty Week 14-20 October –  we collected more than 85kg to parcel up and hand out. The drive was so successful we are still accepting donations  – so you can still drop in and drop something off.

The collection is much needed: last year SCS conducted 150 emergency relief interviews, and provided support for electricity, phone and gas bills to those people. On average, we provided 30 food parcels a month to people who found themselves unable to make ends meet through unemployment, substance abuse or mental health problems.

So if you are dropping in to either of our community hubs for a bit of socialising over lunch, book club or cards, or to pick up some meals to take home, please consider dropping off non-perishable grocery items we can distribute to neighbours in need. Leave donations at our Community Hubs at 46 Gladesville Rd Hunters Hill or 1 Pottery Lane, Lane Cove.
