Sydney Community Services’ team of 26 jogged and strolled the Lane Cove Fun Run course – among about 1700 people who registered for the 2 or 5 km runs. Some think running is so much fun they registered for both!

This well-organised event had breakfasts to satisfy runners and music to cheer them to the finish line, and prizes for the best-dressed – won by Darth Vader and family although there was tough competition from many dogs looking fabulous in bright tutus.

Not only did organisers from Lane Cove Public School and the many participants raise funds for the school but for charity partners, Got A Pen?  and Sydney Community Services.  Together, everyone raised plenty of community spirit – about 2,000 locals and runners came to Kingsford Smith Oval in Longueville and enjoyed themselves hugely.

Thanks to the organisers and their team of volunteers who had everything under control – except the wind – and ran a very smooth event.

As an extra bonus one of the SCS Directors, Warren Bell, got a medal for coming third in his age range!!
