Any celebration or official opening is a magical time with distinguished guests, excitement, anticipation in the air, speeches and infectious enthusiasm. But when the Different Degrees Theatre Ensemble were getting ready to perform at the official opening of Sydney Community Services in their new premises, there was an amazing surprise waiting for them that wasn’t just the applause, glowing feedback or tears of pride among the crowd. It was a person who was so touched by the play he decided to give back something as memorable as their own performance.
Out of the goodness of his heart he decided to make a generous offer to pay for the group to see a wonderful live performance which turned out to be the musical My Fair Lady. When they found out where they were going, all the members of Different Degrees were completely overwhelmed and thrilled. It didn’t end there. When the group went to Capitol Theatre on Wednesday 4 October they were treated to an amazing performance beautiful to watch and astonishing to hear. The atmosphere was electric and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
