Julie grew up in the Southern Highlands. She arrived in Sydney in 1979. She joined the SCS team nearly four years ago as volunteer in the gardening service. After years of professional experience as a fashion buyer and cake decorator Julie decided to dedicate her time to not for profit organisations. Before joining the gardening team she volunteered at Royal North Shore Hospital on the Brain Injury ward, helping patients with their eating.

When a shared position became available for Meals on Wheels Coordinator, she jumped at the opportunity to fill the job.  Self taught and easy going, she adapted quickly to her new responsibilities. After two years in the Meals on Wheels service she had the opportunity to manage the social events and develop them further as she loves being with clients and share her passion for food.

With the help of a small army of wonderful volunteers Julie always makes our social events outstanding and they are very much appreciated by everyone. She is very grateful about the volunteers who take a lot of work off her shoulders.

Her favourite facet of her role is the ability to help isolated people become part of our community by encouraging them to participate in our social activities. “I like it when my clients feel happy, safe and comfortable”.

Mum of three, Julie loves cooking, gardening and reading. Her favourite novel is “Perfume” by Patrick Süskind.
