The Velveteens is a social bus outings groups offered to independent seniors, and provides a wonderful opportunity to stay socially connected, mentally stimulated, and physically active.
These group excursions provide a sense of freedom and adventure, allowing participants to explore new places without the stress of organising transport or logistics. They help reduce feelings of isolation by encouraging meaningful interactions and friendships with peers. Outings also support overall well-being by promoting routine, boosting mood, and offering enriching experiences that keep life interesting and fulfilling.
For independent seniors, they’re a fun, safe, and easy way to stay engaged with the world around them.

The Velveteens group meets on the second Monday of each month from 10am to 4pm.
Start the day with morning tea before heading out to explore a new destination each month. Past outings have included places such as Leura, Cockatoo Island, The Rocks, and Canoelands Orchard—there’s always something new to enjoy!
If you’re over 65, registered with My Aged Care, have a referral code for Social Support Group, and are independent, we’d love to hear from you.
