Our group programs are a great way to connect, learn and enjoy new experiences. Whether you’re looking to try something different or build on what you already love, there’s something for everyone.

At Sydney Community Services, our friendly staff are here to support your individual needs and goals. We’re all about choice, inclusion, and making sure you feel comfortable and involved every step of the way.

Every day of the week there are different activities on offer.

Monday

Social and Recreation Group

Based at Lane Cove, 9.30am – 3.30pm

Regular activities and events include ten-pin bowling, trips to museums and exhibitions, cinema, Sailability, dining out and walks along Sydney’s beautiful foreshores.

We explore the city and beyond together.

Healthy meal choices offered.

Walking Group

Based at Lane Cove, 10.00am – 2.00pm

This weekly program encourages a healthy lifestyle, exercise and social connections, and includes outings to locations such as High Tea at the Rocks, Botanic Gardens, Archie Brothers and Museum of Fire.

Participants can bring their own lunch, or it can be purchased on the day.

New Explorers

Based at Lane Cove, 10.00am – 2.00pm

Enjoy a great day out with the New Sydney Explorers! The group travel to various places around Sydney. Locations visited include Cockatoo Island, Sydney Fish Markets, Manly Beach, movies and more.

Explore Sydney and incorporate exercise in a fun way!

Participants bring their own lunch, or they can purchase on the day.

Chatswood Social Club

Based at Chatswood Youth Centre, Corner Albert Ave & Victor St
(Opposite the Mandarin Centre)

5.30pm – 8.00pm

The Chatswood Social Club is a welcoming social group for adults aged 18–65 with an intellectual disability who have low support needs and live on Sydney’s North Shore.

Our club is all about fun, friendship and creative activities in a supportive environment.

Activities Include

  • Arts and crafts
  • Simple cooking
  • Drumming
  • Theme parties
  • Dining out

Participants can bring their own dinner or purchase on the day.

Our friendly staff and members make sure everyone feels welcome, supported and included.

Different Degrees

Based at Lane Cove, 6.00pm – 8.00pm

Different Degrees is an all-abilities theatre ensemble supported by Sydney Community Services and Lane Cove Council.

It is open to all participants: experienced performers and absolute beginners. The Group offers an encouraging, friendly community environment for creative expression, social interaction, and confidence building.

ZOOM’s

11:00am

Our online Zoom sessions are a fun and easy way to stay socially connected, no matter your mobility, location or transport needs. Join us in a relaxed and friendly setting for enjoyable quizzes that boost confidence, keep your mind active, and give you the chance to chat and laugh with others. It’s a simple, welcoming way to connect from the comfort of your own home.

184A Art

Based at 184A Pittwater Rd, Gladesville, 9.30am – 12.30pm and 1.00pm – 4.00pm

Participants are encouraged to explore their own ideas while learning new art techniques in a relaxed and supportive space.

Each session offers the freedom to create self‑directed pieces or build skills alongside others. The focus is on self‑expression, creativity and meaningful engagement. As participants experiment with different materials and make their own artistic choices, they also grow confidence and develop important life skills that support everyday independence.

Our friendly staff are always there to help when needed, encouraging choice, creativity and the discovery of each person’s unique artistic style.

Zoom – Bright Colours Creative Movement

11.00am – 12.00pm

Bright Colours Creative Movement is an uplifting online Zoom class designed to empower people living with disability and/or mental health challenges.

These gentle, creative sessions support you to express yourself through movement in ways that feel meaningful and comfortable for you. Each class is tailored to your individual experience, access needs and capacity to engage, helping you explore movement in a safe, supportive and imaginative space.

It’s a welcoming way to build confidence and enjoy creative expression from home.

Getting There

Participants make their own way to the meeting venues via organised transport.

  • Non-NDIS funded: entry fees, food and refreshments paid by participant.

Additional Information

  • SCS is a registered NDIS Service Provider
  • Each Group has a calendar of activities that is published monthly.
