Come celebrate local creativity and enjoy affordable art at SCS’ 5th Annual Community Art Expo – which pops up in party mode in the Gladesville Shopping Village  from 5.30 pm on November 9  till Nov 16. Once again we’re inviting all local artists and craftspeople to submit works on the theme of Create and enCOURAGE. Opening night is an opportunity for the public to meet the artists, many of whom are are connected with SCS services as clients, carers, volunteers or visitors to our Men’s Shed or Lane Cove and Hunters Hill Community and Seniors’ Hubs.

Artists and craftspeople are courageous: they put their hearts on their sleeves when they invite us to enter into their vision. Their work gives a new perspective, a moment to interpret and consider another’s view – or perhaps buy something to enjoy forever.

SCS is immensely grateful to Gladesville RSL for its Clubs NSW grant which generously supports our social outreach work which includes art classes for people in social housing in Gladesville and Hunters Hill.  Proceeds go to local artists and Sydney Community Services’ range of programs and services which help people to stay independent at home and be better connected with their community.

Gladesville Shopping Village has generously donated the space to SCS and its Arts and Craft program. Fantastic exposure last year at this popular shopping centre meant that art and craft works were appreciated by more than 1,000 viewers. Most artists sold works to locals who appreciated seeing the exhibition and the chance to buy affordable pieces just prior to Christmas.
