We are continuing to operate our services during lockdown, albeit with changes and different measures in place.

Below is a brief outline of each SCS service and the changes that have been made to accommodate our consumers in a safe way. This information is subject to change based on the advice received from state/federal government/departments.

Infection control procedures are in place including PPE and surgical masks. Most RNs and Support Workers have been fully vaccinated and if not, they are being COVID tested every three days.
Support staff are either working directly from home, or from the Lane Cove and Hunters Hill hubs where small teams are entering the building on a rostered basis and restricted to working in one area only. Hand sanitiser is in use in all SCS offices and vehicles.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND VILLAGE BUS IN LANE COVE
All social activities out of our Lane Cove hub, including the Village Bus, are on hold until advised.

NURSING AND PERSONAL CARE
RNs and Support Workers continue to provide nursing care to consumers in their own home. RNs and Support Workers are not coming into the office but working remotely and attending visiting the consumers straight from home.

HOME DELIVERED MEALS/ LINEN/ DOMESTIC ASSISTANCE
These services continue with SCS support workers replacing volunteers. Contact with consumers is limited, and support workers undertake wellness checks and report back if the person requires additional support or services.

GARDENING
The gardening service continues. Consumers are contacted by phone on arrival and the gardening service is completed with payment made by invoicing the consumer. Volunteers/student placement have been excluded until further notice which has increased the hours it takes for the gardener to be on site.

HOME MODIFICATION & MAINTENANCE
The Home Modification and Maintenance service continues; however, the consumer is asked to remain in another room while the service takes place.

PODIATRY
Podiatrists continue to provide in-home appointments on an individual basis and use full PPE in line with clinical and infection control requirements. SCS provides regular communication with each Podiatrist to ensure each clinician is up to date with current COVID case locations and protocols.

PHONE SHOPPING
Our online shopping service is available – we place the order for you and your groceries are delivered at a day and time to suit you. Call 9427 6425.

COMMUNITY VISITORS SCHEME
The volunteers will adhere to the latest NSW Health Advice and can attend on a 1:1 basis. Volunteers are trained and equipped with tools for virtual visiting such as calling, sending letters and cards as well as window visiting wherever possible.

DISABILITY GROUPS
All group services are continuing with virtual meetings until otherwise instructed. Different Degrees, Chatswood Social Club and 184A Art Group are to relocate to Zoom. Some group services may switch to 1:1 meetings that adhere to infection control procedures.

INDIVIDUAL SOCIAL SUPPORT/ FLEXIBLE RESPITE
Assisted activities continue, but all indoor spaces are being avoided. If consumers feel uncomfortable to take part in regular accompanied activities, staff are shopping from a list on their behalf. Vehicles are not in use and local outdoor walks where suitable are encouraged.

SOCIAL SUPPORT GROUPS
Day Trips, BOOMers, and CALD outings and meetings are suspended until further notice, while some of the Hunters Hill Seniors Hub services are to continue with infection control procedures. Staff are providing regular wellness calls and 1:1 visits on the consumer’s request.

HARDSHIP ASSISTANCE
Hardship Assistance continues to be provided via telephone. Contactless food parcels are being provided.
