Danielle is a wonderful 40 year old who started attending our DisAbility Program in 2013. She was educated at Loretto Ladies College and completed her HSC. She then studied Science & Education at Macquarie University. Half way through the course she deferred to try something different. She started working in the city at an Accountancy firm. During this time she applied and became a fitness instructor with the FIA (Fitness Industry Association) and began working at a Gym. She then answered an add for a fitness instructor on a cruise liner and she travelled to Alaska and the Carribean for nine months before moving to London.

While working in London she was diagnosed with a brain tumour, underwent surgery, radiotherapy and rehabilitation. On return to Australia her tumour came back, and she required a further operation. Her life has now changed completely.

A New Life

Danielle lives alone in Woolstonecraft with her lovely kitten. She is lucky to live in a great community with great neighbours who are friendly and supportive. Danielle has strong values and believes in honesty and being kind to others. Family is important to her and the most important people in her life are her mum, her sister, her brother and sister-in-law. She also loves spending time with her three nephews and her niece.

Danielle used to do lots of sport and being very active. Now she still likes all sport and goes sailing. She also likes music, craft, art and making jewellery.

Her new goals are getting fit again, losing weight and socialising. She would also love to try skydiving!

Thanks to the DisAbility Program Danielle has the opportunity to visit great places around Sydney with a group of friends. “I love the staff, Gaynor and Jen are always so lovely. Being here has enabled me to make wonderful friends.” Danielle told us. And when we asked her what she likes about our services she answered: “I love how special the staff makes us feel, with the celebrations, decorations and beautiful presents from SCS and the community.”
